Born in Canton, Ohio, Minister Javon Inman was raised in a God-reverencing home with his parents, brother and sister. At age four, he began singing in the Sunshine Band at his grandfather's church, New Life C.O.G.I.C., in Massillon, OH. His family relocated to the Washington, DC Metropolitan area when he was seven.
His parents recognized his God-given talent early on and made certain that he actively participated in All-State choirs, musical theatre productions, talent competitions, chamber ensembles and gospel choirs. As a teenager, Javon was a member of an R&B group. The group received recognition through the D.C. Metro area. However, after singing with the group for several years, Javon clearly heard the voice of the Lord directing him to stop singing secular music and to utilize his gifts for The Kingdom of God. Javon answered, "Yes, Lord" and and this was the "end of Javon" and the "beginning of God."
On Resurrection Sunday, April 12, 1998, Javon rededicated his life to the Lord and never looked back! He submerged himself in the Music Ministry at Refreshing Spring C.O.G.I.C. by joining the Young Adult Choir and Praise Team. Refreshing Spring's Music Ministry would prove to be his training ground to become an effective Choir Director and Praise & Worship Atmosphere Changer! For four years, Javon served as the Minister of Music at Hear The Word Bible Church, Bowie, MD (Pastor Thomas E. Cunningham). This position undoubtedly strengthened and further prepared Javon for the next chapter of his life - to write and minister music that draws the hearts of people through worship to Christ.
Some of Javon's notable music ministry accomplishments include being the recipient of two Gospel Blue M.I.C. Awards for MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR and SINGLE OF THE YEAR ("Redeemer"). He was also awarded a national contract with Central South Distribution, Inc. which will afford Javon's debut project to be in stores across the nation in the Summer of 2013. His song, "Unleash Your Power" won the 2012 En Sound Music Award for BEST CHORAL PERFORMANCE. Additionally, Javon won NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR at the 2012 DMV Christian Music Awards. Furthermore, he received five nominations in the 2013 Rhythm of Gospel Music Awards and five nominations in the 2013 South Florida Gospel Music Awards! Javon's music can be heard on over 45 radio stations across the U.S. as well as in the U.K. and the Caribbean. His single, "Redeemer" has become a mainstay on many radio stations and reached an impressive position on the Nielsen BDS and Mediabase Charts.
In addition to ministering in song, Javon has a strong passion for songwriting. He has written well over 200 songs for artists, choirs, and himself! He joyfully exclaims, "Don't get me wrong, I love singing, but something extremely incredible happens during the process of songwriting...it's a beautiful time of consecration where I've got to put myself aside and tune my ear to the heart of God to hear what He wants the nations to hear...it's not and never will be about me -it's all for God...I just want to be obedient and faithful."
Javon currently lives in Bowie, MD with his wife and their two children.
